Athy Triathlon Club

Well done to Sean Brennan from ATC who represented Ireland in the European Championships in Kitzbuhel, Austria on 18th Jun. Fantastic achievement to represent the country. 

The weekend of the 17th and 18th Jun saw a large number of the ATC crew partake in running events. First was StoneMad event on Saturday 17th, that consisted of half, full and ultra marathon along the River Barrow. Insane heat, and the, inevitable, sun trap that is the barrow track caused many a struggle.

So, with tri season in full swing we have lots of ATC members representing across the board. Well done to Michelle Brennan, Niall Foley, Sean Brennan and Liam Brennan representing at the Firmus City of Derry Sprint Triathlon on 11th Jun. A huge, huge congrats to Junior member Tadhg Roberts who came home in first place in the Belpark Junior Duathlon in Phoenix Park on the 7th of Jun. He completed the event, consisting of 250m run, 2.2k cycle ad 250m run in a cracking time of 9.02. The future is bright for this junior athlete. Well

It wasn’t just an adult affair over the bank holiday weekend. We had some of our juniors representing in Mullingar on Bank Holiday Monday, and to say they did ATC proud would be an understatement. Although we don’t host this massive event, the fact that it is on home turf means it’s a special day out for a huge portion of Athy Triathlon Club. With the weather holding, and even, surprisingly, some nice warm sunshine, over 2000 athletes hit our home town to partake in, what’s advertised as, the fastest

Well done to Dave Harmon who completed the gruelling Lap of the Gap on Sat (27/5), compounded by wet and windy conditions, in a fantastic time of 4:31:54 Savage stuff there!! And a huge well done to Niall Foley who raced Cat 2 in Lough Cutra on the same day finishing in 1:05:37. Again, wet
