This post has to be premised with the acknowledgement of the sheer dedication and work put in to this camp and the junior section by wife and husband team, Karen and Padraig Kavanagh. Without their dedication to the junior section and genuine desire to see this section of the club grow from strength to strength, we would not have this wonderful camp in which children from other tri clubs, alongside children who have never tried the sport before, took part.
The look of sheer joy and fun on each childs’ face painted a picture that said a thousand words. Well done Karen and Padraig.
Also, a massive shout out Gary Crossan from Triathlon Ireland and his wife, Maria McCambridge, who spent the three days mentoring the 50 children (who hung on their every word!). They were such a huge asset to the club for the camp.
Also, we cannot fail to mention all the other members who gave of their time to marshal and help out with the event that took place over three days on the first week of easter break, culminating in all the children participating in a triathlon. Thank you to each and every one of you for making it so enjoyable for all the children.
It was a huge success with so many kids absolutely thrilled to be able to say they had completed a triathlon for the first time. So proud of them.
