This year’s race will take place on 3rd March at 10 am. Entry to the race is available from the Triathlon Ireland website here.
The Flat Out race is part of the Triathlon Ireland BMW Duathlon National Series (NS) again this year and we expect to have athletes of all abilities participating, from beginners taking part in their first event for fun to elite athletes chasing NS points. We have moved the location of the transition a little up the road this year and changed our run route the cycle route is largely the same, see details below.
Location
The race location is Athy Primary Care Centre (R14 DX94), parking will be available at Athy GFC’s Geraldine Park car park (last year’s transition area, R14 WN92)
Entry
Entry to the race is available from the Triathlon Ireland website here. Please note that if you are not already a member of Triathlon Ireland (TI) you will need to register as a “Site User” on the TI website in order to sign up for the race and if you do not have a TI race licence then you will need to purchase a one day membership (ODM) from TI. Participants must have either a race licence or ODM to race.
Our 3km run course is new for 2024, it will start within Athy Primary Care Centre and transition on the R418 and then the new Athy Distributor Road. The course is flatter than the last few years, taking advantage of the wide, smooth shared use path along the new road.
Marshals will be placed at various points along the route and participants will be in view of a marshal at all times.

The bike is an out an back on the super smooth N78. This is a fast, rolling route with a couple of hills. The start/finish is slightly changed for 2024 but the main route is the same as it has been for the last few years.
